Cloud Ride Mini-Ozone Review

Dave ‘Gnomesteeze got to check out two duros of the new Mini-Ozone wheels from Cloud Ride Wheels. He takes us through them on some local terrain. Enjoy!2

The Mini Ozone is Cloud Ride Wheel’s answer for the Ozone with more versatility. Coming in at 65mm (opposed to the 70mm Ozone), the Mini Ozone features the same core and shape as the Ozone, but scaled down to size (46.5mm Wide with an initial 35mm contact patch).
The wheel is poured with the popular Cloud-Thane urethane formula that Cloud Ride has used to establish their presence in the market. The wheel is available in three durometers: 80a, 83a, and

For this review, I got to try the 83a and 86a Mini Ozones. I mostly used these wheels on my Rayne Renegade for around town commuting and sidewalk slashing and they were enjoyable. For getting around I preferred the 83a wheel opposed to the 86a wheel because of the softer ride. The cracks in the street and sidewalk didn’t have as much of an effect on the ride and they seemed to be faster in the garage as well.

The 86a wheels were really fun when it came to the hills. The slide was slick and fast while the lips had a solid feel and it was easy to tell where the initiation point was in the slide as well as the hookup. The 83a Mini Ozone was also fun for freeriding as well, but personally the 86a duro was more fun on my mellow hills because I didn’t slow down as much during the slide.

After riding these wheels for a while I’m looking into trying out the regular Cloud Ride Ozone to see how the extra size feels and performs. As the market is proving, you really can’t go wrong with making an enjoyable wheel using the Labeda factory cores that are becoming more prevalent nowadays.

“If you’re looking for a wheel to fit on your skateboard without getting wheel bite while hitting features that can also hold it’s own on the hills, the Mini Ozone is a wheel to check out.”

Cloud Ride took advantage of the situation by making multiple sizes with different urethane hardness choices to meet all kinds of skate style needs. If you’re looking for a wheel to fit on your skateboard without getting wheel bite while hitting features that can also hold it’s own on the hills, the Mini Ozone is a wheel to check out.

Gnomesteeze out!
